Honda NX650 custom
It’s always good to see a new custom shop on the scene. And it’s even better when the first bike is a winner, straight out of the box. So let me introduce you to Kiddo Motors, the trading name of Sergio Armet. He’s a one-man-band running a custom and service workshop in Barcelona, Spain, and this is his first build. “Kiddo Uno” started life as a 1988 Honda NX650 Dominator, but it’s a very different machine now—with deep classic colors and a rich, quilted brown leather seat.
The 644 cc thumper engine has been stripped down and rebuilt, and fitted with K&N filtration and a beautifully welded GP-style exhaust system. The frame has been cut back, refashioned in the ‘tracker’ style, and polished. The fenders and chain guard are handmade, and the tank is a modified aluminum Yamaha XT500 item—repainted in Honda racing colors and fitted with a TDM900 petcock. Up front are Easton EXP motocross bars and blinkers from Posh. The rims are Excel, 19” at the front and 18” at the back, shod with Continental Twinduro dual sport tires. A simplified wiring harness and lithium battery help with weight reduction, which is down from around 164 kg to an impressive 143 kg (315 lbs).
The result is a light and nimble bike that can hold its own with any of the offerings from the larger European shops. And it’ll be an absolute blast to ride. Keep an eye out for the Kiddo Motors name—I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more about Sergio Armet.
